Road Trip 2010

We decided to drive west from Ontario to experience the western half of Canada. The small works were captured on site during a four week stretch in June and July. Larger pieces were developed in the studio using plein air sketches, thumbnail sketches and notes and photos (for compositional input). The essence of the place and its people is the focus of the paintings. The challenge was to adapt to the large variations in geography and landscape on the fly.
